The Tournament of Books has gotten away from me a bit, but in a small surprise, Canadian Stephen Marche has outran Run by Ann Patchett, and Junot Diaz (for my money, the odds on favourite) over Laura Lippman's What the Dead Know. Run was rather good, but not on the level of Bel Canto, and while Lippman is a very well regarded crime writer, the Tournament isn't really genre driven as yet.
